Francis (Frank)
M. Rolla, 90
Francis (Frank) M. Rolla passed away on August 11, 2023, in his hometown of Dover, Delaware.
Frank lived a very long and travel filled life. He will always be remembered for his gift to talk to anyone, at any time, on any subject.
Frank grew up in Dunmore, Pennsylvania, as one of six children. Together with his brothers and sisters they struggled to support their mother upon the loss of their father in a mining accident early in their lives. Frank would join the United States Air Force where he would serve for 21 years. During his service, he would travel to many countries and around the United States serving in Strategic Air Command. It was while serving he would meet and marry his wife, Jean, in England. Together they would have three children: Michael, Debbie, and Cheryl. You might say Jean helped provide the balance in their marriage with her British sense of patience.
After retiring from his military service, Frank would continue to serve as a Correction Officer in Delaware. Upon his retirement from the Correction service, he would become deeply involved with the Knights of Columbus reaching the 4th Degree, Knighthood, the Patriotic Degree. This degree well represented Frank's life of service to his country, state, Catholic Church, and to many people whose lives he touched.
Frank is survived by his beautiful wife, Jean; his two children, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Unfortunately, or perhaps a blessing, no one inherited his gift of talk so many knew was Frank's trademark.
A Mass of Christian will be offered 10:00 AM, Friday, Aug. 18th at The Church of the Holy Cross, 631 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901.
