CAMBRDIGE - Frances Virginia Wright, 82, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006, at her residence.
She was born in Cambridge on Oct. 13, 1924, and was a daughter of the late J. Alonza and Rose Taylor Wrightson.
Mrs. Wright graduated from Cambridge High School in 1942. On Nov. 14, 1943, she married William N. Wright Sr.
Mrs. Wright worked for C&P Telephone Co. as a switch board operator. She later worked with her husband and his family at Rose Hill Restaurant and the Wright Brothers Store.
Mrs. Wright enjoyed her time with her family, sewing, and reaching out to others through her card ministry. While raising her children and grandchildren, she also did childcare for other families.
She was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, a life member of the United Methodist Women and the Mizpah Sunday School Class and the American Legion Post 91 Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. Wright was a constant and reliable presence in all that is St. Paul's Church from Soup Day to the Flower Fair, to working quieting in the kitchen making every event special.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William N. Wright Sr. of Cambridge; six children, Constance W. Harding and husband, Waddell of Cambridge, William N. Wright Jr. and wife, Andrea of Cambridge, Anne W. Murphy and husband, Robert of Cambridge, Deborah J. Shelley and husband, Hunter of Gaithersburg, Susan E. Meredith and husband, James of Cambridge and Ruth W. Gorski and husband, Anthony of Centreville; 14 grandchildren, Gregory C. Harding and wife, Michelle, Jennifer E. Harding, William N. Wright III, Jacquelyn B. Wright and fiancée Wesley Harper, Robert J. Murphy Jr., JoAnna F. Murphy, David C. Furr, Haley N. Shelley, J. Wesley Meredith II and fiancée, K. Brooke Wooten, T. Matthew Meredith, Kacey E. Meredith, Stephanie R. Gorski, Chase A. Gorski, Anne G. Gorski; 6 great-grandchildren, Jessica R. Harding, Rachel E. Harding, Christopher C. Harding, Garrett W. Harding, C. Dominick Wright, Madelyn R. Harper, many nieces and nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joshua A. Wrightson.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Cambridge with the Rev. Fred Bahr, the Rev. A. Delmer Willey Jr. and the Rev. Billy Frick officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home, PA, in Cambridge. Burial will follow at Dorchester Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be her son and grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers will be her sons-in-law, great-grandsons, Ralph Jackson Sr., Joshua A. Wrightson III and George W. Wright Jr.
