DOVER - Frances "Minnie" Downes passed away Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, in Kent General Hospital.
Frances was born June 15, 1934, in Dover, Del. to the late, Dorothy Luff. She had worked at J.C. Penney's Department Store for over 25 years; and was a long time volunteer with Delaware Hospice. In her free time, Minnie enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, and talking to people.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Edward T. Downes, who passed on July 4, 1988.
Minnie is survived by 3 children, Judy A. Schmeusser & husband, Daniel, of Clayton, Steven E. Downes & wife, Carolyn, of Hartly, and Connie Meyers & fiance' Mark Rinehart, of Dover; 4 grandsons & 3 great-grandsons.
Funeral Services will take place at 11a.m., Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 West Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming; where family and friends may gather from 10a.m. to 11a.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963 or to the Little Creek Methodist Church, Main Street, Little Creek, DE . 19961. Condolences may be sent via: www.pippinfuneralhome.com
