CAMBRIDGE - Frances B. Anderson, 86, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2007 at Dorchester General Hospital.

She was born in Cambridge on Sept. 20, 1920, and was a daughter of the late Willis Chandler and Martha Ellen Stevens Beard.

Mrs. Anderson graduated from East New Market High School in 1937 and attended Goldey College in Wilmington, Del. She married Daniel Edgar Anderson who passed away on July 13, 1998.

Mrs. Anderson had worked as a secretary for 13 years at Phillips Packing Co. and 21½ years at Dorchester County Department of Social Services until she retired in July of 1982.

She had been a member of Zion United Methodist Church since 1950.

She is survived by a son, John Anderson and his wife, Sandra Anderson of Perryville; a granddaughter, Melissa Anderson Rowan of California; a grandson, David Chandler Anderson of Utah; eight great-grandchildren, Jacob, John Taylor, Katie, Chandler, Leah, Sophia, Elizabeth and Rebecca and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by a brother, Willis Charles Beard who passed away on June 30, 1990.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at East New Market Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin E. English officiating.

Following the graveside service, family will receive friends at Zion United Methodist Church Hall for a time of fellowship.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 612 Locust St., Cambridge, MD 21613.

Arrangements are in the care of the Thomas Funeral Home, P.A. in Cambridge.
