Five Henlopen Conference teams in DIAA girls' soccer state tournaments
DOVER — Five Henlopen Conference teams have made the fields for the DIAA Division I and II girls’ soccer state tournaments that were determined on Thursday.
Smyrna and Polytech High are in the Division I bracket with Sussex Academy, Indian River and Delmar all making the field in Division II.
The Division II tournament starts on Saturday with four first-round contests.
In games involving Downstate schools, fifth-seeded Sussex Academy (12-4) hosts No. 12 Conrad (9-6) at 6 p.m.; No. 9 Indian River (10-4) faces No. 8 Wilmington Christian (12-3) at 1 p.m. at Tower Hill; and No. 11 Delmar (9-5-1) plays No. 6 Delaware Military (10-4-1) at 5 p.m.
The Division II tournament continues with the quarterfinals on Wednesday and Thursday.
In Division I on May 25, No. 3 Smyrna (11-4) hosts No. 6 Delcastle (12-3) at 6 p.m. while fourth-seeded Polytech (13-3) hosts No. 5 Padua (9-4) at 4 p.m.
The championship games in both Division I and II are slated for June 2 at Delaware State’s Alumni Stadium.
