Firefly dates, presale officially announced

Posted

DOVER — Firefly Music Festival officials debuted a new website Thursday afternoon, officially announcing that next year’s event at the Woodlands of Dover will be three days instead of four, as it had been for the last five years.

As previously reported by the Delaware State News in July, Firefly will be held June 21-23.

According to a statement, event organizers have developed a lineup that will feature more artists over a three-day schedule "that is easier to attend for most fans". Firefly will now allow early entry for all campers on Thursday, June 20 and departure on Monday, June 24 included in all camping packages.

Also announced Thursday, a Firefly Loyalty Program will give returning fans the first chance at passes for Firefly 2019, exclusive pricing and more.

All who have previously purchased or registered a wristband qualify for the 2019 Loyalty Program, and will receive a unique code to access their Loyalty passes via email.

The presale will take place on Nov. 16 although the price of tickets was not announced. All who qualify will have access to discounted passes for a 24-hour period.

General admission, VIP and Super VIP passes will be available during the 2019 Loyalty Presale period. Officials say other details, including the lineup, will be released in the coming weeks.

AEG Presents, already a majority holder in Firefly, acquired the remaining ownership shares of the festival this summer.

As part of the acquisition of shares formerly held by Red Frog Events, a Chicago-based event company, AEG Presents also took over the promotion and production of the festival.

AEG Presents is the concert promoter behind events such as Coachella and Stagecoach in Southern California, Panorama Festival in New York City and 8,000 concerts a year.

Officials say AEG Presents decided to expand its ownership stake and role in the festival following this year’s Firefly, held June 14-17, and Red Frog Events’ desire to shift its focus to other events and services.

This year’s Firefly Music Festival saw headliners Eminem, Arctic Monkeys, Kendrick Lamar and The Killers.
