Firearm charges result from Dover traffic stop

DOVER - Matthew Anders, 38, of Dover, was arrested on firearm charges as the result of a firearms investigation on Wednesday, Dover police said.

Spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said Mr. Anders was stopped by police on a traffic stop in the area of College Road and Kenton Road at approximately 11:03 p.m. During the stop, police said, officers located a loaded 9mm handgun underneath of the driver’s seat where Mr. Anders was seated. Additional ammunition and spent shell casings were also located within the vehicle, authorities said.

Mr. Anders was charged with possession of untraceable firearm, possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (two counts), and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $12,500 cash bond.
