ODESSA — A Saturday fire destroyed a house under construction in the Four Seasons at Baymont Farms development, off Vance Neck Road, the state fire marshal said.
According to spokesman Michael Chionchio, the blaze, reported shortly before 11:30 a.m., occurred in the 900 block of Scarlet Oak Street. The one-story dwelling was not occupied when firefighters arrived, but flames were shooting from home.
Mutual-aid fire companies assisted the Odessa Fire Co., and New Castle County paramedics stood by the scene.
State fire investigators are searching for the incident’s origin and cause.
There were no reported injuries, but heavy damage to the house, as well as neighboring residences, totaled about $600,000, Mr. Chionchio said.
