HARRINGTON — A 35-year-old Felton woman was arrested by Harrington police just after 8 on Saturday morning after she attempted to flee from an officer and led the officer on a brief pursuit, the Harrington Police Department said.

A Harrington officer on patrol on South DuPont Highway near Fairgrounds Road ran a registration check on a vehicle, which was being driven by Ms. Knolls, after the owner of the vehicle showed in the computer system as having an active warrant.

The officer, driving a fully marked Chevrolet Caprice, turned on the car’s emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Amber M. Knolls, of the 6900 block of Hopkins Cemetery Road, allegedly failed to stop and fled from the officer in a reckless manner at a high rate of speed. She continued southbound on South DuPont Highway and onto Hammondtown Road.

Ms. Knolls pulled into a driveway in the 2900 block of Hammondtown Road and was taken into custody.

Ms. Knolls was charged with disregarding a police officer signal, driving a vehicle at unreasonable or imprudent speed and several other traffic violations. She also had an active warrant out of Kent County Court of Common Pleas in Dover for Breach of Release.

She was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in Georgetown in default of $4,150 cash bond.
