Felton man re-indicted in gun, drug case from ’15

DOVER — A Felton man has been re-indicted on six charges in a case involving an Oct. 20, 2015, traffic stop that allegedly located marijuana and live ammunition rounds, according to court documents.

Michael Neal, of the unit block of Jones Street, was 25 at the time of his arrest by the Dover Police Department. Indicted charges returned by a Kent County Grand Jury include possession of a firearm by person prohibited, possession of ammunition by person prohibited, possession of a firearm with obliterated serial number, criminal impersonation, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Neal was convicted of second-degree robbery on Oct. 13, 2010, making him a person prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, the indictment read.

Police said Mr. Neal allegedly gave two fake names during the stop in the area of South DuPont Highway and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, which brought the criminal impersonation count against him. He was wanted on capiases at the time, police said.

At the time, Mr. Neal was staying at a local hotel, and authorities said a room search located a Walther 938 9mm handgun.

Marie O’Connor Graham signed the indictment for the state of Delaware.
