KENT COUNTY — A 33-year-old Felton man was arrested on multiple criminal charges for numerous alleged burglaries and thefts that occurred in Kent County since March, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.
Authorities said investigation began after numerous burglaries and thefts to residences and sheds in the Felton and Harrington area. At the same time, several vehicles were reported stolen near the incidents, police said. Cpl. Pepper said Stephen C. Lemmons was identified as a person of interest in the case.
On March 7, DSP received information that information regarding a Corvette was reported stolen just days earlier and received a possible location for the vehicle. Troopers responded to a property in Hartly and observed the Corvette with Mr. Lemmons and his girlfriend, Shannon Keen, 27, of Felton exiting the car, police said.
DSP said Mr. Lemmons and Ms. Keen were transported to Troop 3 for further investigation. Also located on the same property was a Chevrolet Suburban and small landscaping trailer reported stolen on April 13, police said. An inventory search was conducted on the Corvette, and located inside was approximately .287 grams of heroin, police said.
Mr. Lemmons was charged with multiple offenses and counts including, among others, motor vehicle theft, second- and third-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, second-degree attempted burglary. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $36,005 secured bond.
Ms. Shannon Keen, 27, of Felton, was initially committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on a $3,500 secured bond on charges including third-degree burglary, motor vehicle theft, and second degree conspiracy.
Ms. Keen was additionally charged with motor vehicle theft, second- and third-degree conspiracy, theft under $1,500, receiving stolen property, criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was awaiting arraignment at Troop 3.
