hours Saturday on U.S. 13, north of Felton as 28-year-old William O. Boyer of Felton.

Police said the crash occurred between 3:15 a.m. and 3:44 a.m., on U.S. 13 southbound just south of Plymouth Road north of Felton.

An unknown white SUV was traveling southbound on U.S. 13 in the area of the 9000 block of South DuPont Highway. A pedi-cyclist, operated by Mr. Boyer was traveling southbound on the asphalt shoulder of U.S. in the same area.

The unknown vehicle struck the pedi-cyclist in the rear wheel on the southbound shoulder. The vehicle then continued southbound after striking the bicycle and did not stop, say police. Mr. Boyer was projected forward and ejected off of his bicycle on the west edge of the southbound shoulder.

The operator of the white SUV fled the scene. A partial white bumper was left at the collision scene.

Police say Mr. Boyer was not wearing a helmet. He did have a light on the brim of his hat and was wearing a red Polo shirt with high visibility lime safety straps. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The collision was reported by a passing motorist, and there are no known witnesses at the time.

U.S. 13 southbound had a right-lane restriction only. It was open during the investigation.
