Eve Thomas, 95 SMYRNA - Eve Thomas, of Smyrna, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, at Pinnacle Rehabilitation and Health Center in Smyrna. She was 95. Mrs. Thomas was born Jan. 26, 1914, in Creswell, N.C., the daughter of the late John Mack Leary and Alice Lucas. She worked as a housekeeper for many years for the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. Prior to that, she owned a service station in Smyrna for many years with her late husband, Harold. The service station also had a sandwich shop. They went on to own a new and used furniture store. She loved to read, enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends. Mrs. Thomas was active with her church in North Carolina while she lived there. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Harold M. Rash and later William F. Thomas; and ten brothers and sisters. Eve was the last survivor of her siblings. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Wilson and her husband, George of Smyrna; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be noon Monday, Aug, 10, in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located on 29 South Main Street, Smyrna, where friends may call at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Condolence letters may be sent by visiting www.fariesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements are by Faries Funeral Directors and Crematorium Inc., 29 South Main Street, Smyrna.
