MILLINGTON, Md., - Eugene Germann, Jr., died on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at his home. Born on May 28, 1933, in Takoma Park, Md., he was the son of the late Eugene B. and Louise Immich Germann. He attended Mt. Rainier High School until at age 17 he enlisted in the United States Army. He served 3 years in Company I lst Infantry Regiment and engaged in the Korean combat action. After an honorable discharge in 1954 he worked along with his father as a Union Plasterer for many years until joining the Painters' Union. Then in 1984 he and his four sons went into business as E. Germann & Sons, Inc. He retired in 1995 and moved to Millington in 2002. Mr. Germann was a member of the Howard County Beagle Club and enjoyed rabbit hunting and running beagles. In addition to his wife, Loretta Germann, he is survived by four sons, Eugene D. Germann and wife Patricia, Mark A. Germann and wife Pamela, Steven L. Germann and wife Sheryl, and J. Matt Germann, all of Millington, Md.; grandchildren, Sharon, Eugene, Amy Hood and husband Chris, Steven, Jr., Shayna, Travis, Trisha, Sammy, Matty, and Bobby; step-grandchildren, Erin, Kendall and Dave Savage; and step great-granddaughter, Emma-Leigh Savage; his brother, Morris Germann and wife Barbara; sister-in-law Mary Ann Germann; cousins, Mary Ann Cox and Dorothy Welch. He was preceded in death by his sister, Darlene Black; and two brothers, George and Eddie Germann. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012 at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD, the viewing for relatives and friends will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012.
