Ethel was born Dec. 23, 1931 in Washington D.C., the daughter of the late James and Lillian McEvoy. She was valedictorian of her high school graduating class at Calvin Coolidge High School in Washington D.C. and salutatorian of her college class at American University in Washington D.C. In college Ethel excelled at diving and synchronized swimming, and she continued to enjoy swimming throughout her life. Ethel was a loving mother and caregiver, with boundless energy. She was a long time member of Camden Friends Meeting and later of Appoquinimink Friends Meeting. Her Quaker beliefs in peace and justice were a driving force in her life. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Howard Parker; her sisters, Lillian McEvoy Kibler and Helen McEvoy Coupard; her children, Amelia Parker, Glenn Parker, Jill Rogers, Janet Parker, and Nancy Parker; her grandchildren, Joel Parker, Jose Gutierrez, Rebecca Parker, Ruby Rogers, Jacob Wilder, and Anya Masha Novash; and her great grandchildren, Emily Gutierrez and Luke Wyatt Parker.
