Ethel Marie Johnson

BEAR - Ethel Marie Johnson, of Bear, formerly of Lewes, Del., died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Kent Bayhealth in Dover after a brief illness, surrounded by her family members. Ethel was born December 17, 1937, in Milton, Del. to the late Alberta M. (Johnson) Gibbs. Ethel spent her entire life in Delaware, she could often be seen walking the streets of Lewes. Ethel joined St. George AME Church and attended regularly. She then moved in with her caretaker, Kathy Scott, in Dover. The last four years of her life were spent living with her sister, Patricia, in Bear. She is survived by six brothers, Harold Johnson, Joseph and Teresa Gibbs, Clifton Gibbs, Tyrone Gibbs, Wayne and Ethel Gibbs and Thomas Gibbs; seven sisters, Patricia Hanzer, Graceleane Gibbs-Tabler, Kathleen Gibbs and Neal Grandison, Wanda Witherspoon, Tecola and Ricardo Hernandez, Charlotte Gibbs, and Claudia Johnson. Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, with a viewing two hours before service and Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at St. George AME Church / 317 Park Ave Lewes, DE.
