OXNARD, Calif. - Ernest Isadore Aldridge, son of the late Dorene F. Washington and Elwood Molock, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at St. John Hospital-Hospice Center in Oxnard.
He was born March 12, 1939, in Dorchester County. He received his childhood education at the Hurlock Elementary School and was a graduate in the class of 1957 from Mace"s Lane High School.
On Oct. 8, 1957, Mr. Aldridge joined the United States Air Force. He served his country in the Vietnam War, not once, but twice. After 23 years of service Mr. Aldridge retired Aug. 31, 1980. He then worked for a computer company and later at the Naval Exchange until his health started to fail.
In 1966 he married Lillian Funches of Walla Walla, Wash. That marriage lasted until l976. In 1978 he married his second wife, Eileen. She passed away Sept. 28, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald Aldridge in 2002 and stepfather, William Lee Washington.
Mr. Aldridge is survived by three daughters, Cheryl Fletcher of Hurlock, Myra Aldridge of Clackamas, Ore., Debra (Dean) Wilson of Sylmar, Calif.; two sons, Ernest Isadore (Gig) Aldridge Jr. of Alberta, Canada and Robert Anthony Aldridge of Walla Walla, Wash.; six sisters, Doretha (Thomas) Collins, Barbara (William) Collins, Virginia (Eddie) Wing, all of Hurlock, Dianne (Tyrone) Harrison of Laguna Hills, Calif., Geraldine (Paul) Petty of Philadelphia, Pa. and Francine (Arthur) Banks of Easton. He is also survived by an uncle, Winifred Aldridge of Hurlock; four grandchildren, Kentay Turk Fletcher, Trevor, Travis Wilson and Aleeah Aldridge; two great-great-grandchildren, Cameron and Jaylor; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and neighbors, Jim and Mague of Oxnard, Calif and special friend, Sylvia Tilghman of Baltimore.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Veterans" Cemetery at Hurlock. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to a church or favorite charity.
