WITTMAN - Ernest Evert Tribett, died Monday, June 8, 2009, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 85. Born in New Martinsville, W.Va., he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Lillian Archer Tribett. He attended schools in West Virginia, after which, in 1943, he joined the United States Navy. In the Navy, he was stationed in Bainbridge, Brooklyn, N.Y., and aboard the SS John Mason, SS William H. Webb and the SS Wellesley. He served in the European Theater and the American Theater in World War II, where he received the European Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and the Victory Medal. After leaving the Navy, he married L. Rosabelle Harrison in St. Michaels. They made their home in Wittman for 10 years. They returned to West Virginia for the next 30 years, returning to Wittman for the last 23 years. Mr. Tribett worked in construction as a contractor. Mr. Tribett was active in the VFW at the E.E. Streets Memorial Post 5118. While in West Virginia, he was a member of the Benwood W.V. American Legion. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cambridge. Preceding him in death were his parents; and three brothers, John C. Tribett, Clifford Donald Tribett, and Vernon "Buddy" Tribett. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, L. Rosabelle "Rosie" Tribett; his daughter, Sheri L. Cooper of Easton; a grandson, Shawn Craig Dobson; a brother, William Josephus Tribett of Center Ridge, Alaska; and two sisters, Gwyneth Klein of Des Moines, Iowa, and Helen Janet Keenan of Mocksville, N.C. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2009. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery, Easton.
