Embert, 71 MARYDEL, Md. - Elva Jean Schelts Embert died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 in her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Embert was born Sept. 14, 1941 in Chesterville, Md. the daughter of the late William Schelts and Beulah Grace "Glanding" Schelts. Mrs. Embert attended Galena High school where she received a letter for playing volleyball. On January 16, 1960 she married Clifton Embert in Holden's Chapel. The two started their family and Mrs. Embert stayed at home to raise the children. In her later years she worked at Deb's Place in Sudlersville, Md. as a waitress and also did home day care in the surrounding area. She was a member of Holden's Chapel since she was 12 years old and has served as secretary, treasurer and a Sunday school teacher for the church. Going to church was the love of her life in addition to her family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, family gatherings, vacationing in Pennsylvania, watching the Price Is Right and the Bachelor, eating at Parkside Deli, in Sudlersville, Md. and attending Gospel Concerts at Holiday Park, Greensboro, Md. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Embert. She is survived by her three sons, Clifton William Embert of Marydel, Md., Paul Mathew Embert Sr. and wife Sherry of Dover, and Kenneth Dale Embert and wife Betty Jo of Millington, Md.; two brothers, William D. Schelts of Milford, Charles E. Schelts of Millington, Md.; eleven grandchildren, Christina Cook, Jamie Embert, Patricia Embert, Matt Embert, Kyle Embert, Amber Embert, Chayce Steele, Cody Steele, Brittany Steele, Joey Embert , Amanda Embert; and five great-grandchildren, Madysen Lilee DeHorty, Kaylee Grace Embert, Alina Embert, Carter Embert and Domonic Embert; she was also survived by cousins and nephews. A visitation will be held Friday, March 1, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 370 Cypress St Millington, MD. Services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Holden's Chapel Church 302 Duhamel Corner Rd Marydel, MD. Interment will be held in Sudlersville Cemetery following the service at church. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Holden's Chapel Church c/o Kenneth D.
