CRISFIELD - Elsie M. Mister, 86, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield where she had been a resident since June. Born in Oriole on Sept. 13, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Susie and Ben Harris. Elsie cooked for many years and retired from Captain's Galley Restaurant. At that time she became a caregiver until her health failed. She loved spending time with her family and especially liked going out to eat. In her later years, she enjoyed meeting her friends at McDonalds. She also loved the Lord very much. Her last wish was to donate her body to science in hopes that she would help someone else. Elsie is survived by her three children, Claudia (Frank) Holt of Princess Anne, Ellen (Jesse) Cuff of Jacksonville, Fla., and Paul Wilkins of Apollo Beach, Fla.; a special granddaughter, Ella Payne of Crisfield, and her other grandchildren, Cheryl Tilghman, Vanessa Sargent, Sherree Charboneau, Ted Nelson, Jr., Wanda Parks and Brian Wilkins; her great-grandchildren, Michael Suskin, Brandy Holland, Charlie Tull, Whitney and Nora Parks, Skye Nelson, Tabitha Ennis, Justin Esse, Desiree Charboneau and Samuel Wilkins; her great-great-grandchildren, Audrey, Miranda and Noel Atkins, Gabrielle Suskin and Tristian Ennis; and a host of nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings, Ditty, John, Gardner, George and Bill Harris, Evelyn Harris, Ella Tawes and Edna Shores; her husband, James "Jimmy" Mister; and her best friend and companion, Johnny Conner. A memorial service was Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Wesleyan Church in Crisfield. Rev. Bob Daniels officiated. Urn interment will be private at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home Activities Fund, 201 Hall Highway or Lower Somerset Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 406, both Crisfield, MD 21817.
