Elizabeth Hutchison

Hutchison, 82 TOWNSEND - Elizabeth "Betty" Hutchison, age 82 of Townsend, passed away in her sleep at 1 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, 2013 at the Seasons Hospice Unit in Christiana Hospital. The daughter of Irish immigrants, Bill and Mary Sayers, Betty was raised in Centerville. She graduated from AI Dupont High School where she was the Captain of the girls basketball team and was "May Queen" her senior year. She worked as a secretary for Atlas Chemical in Wilmington. On August 8, 1958 she married Bobby Hutchison and moved to Townsend. She retired from Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home where she worked as the bookkeeper for many years. She was a member of the Townsend Women's Club and the Immanuel United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed helping prepare the church suppers. She had a wonderful life blessed with family, friends and a loving God who now welcomes her home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, May and Walter Chiffons. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert C Hutchison Sr.; son Robert "Robby" Hutchison and his wife Mary of Middletown; daughter, Tracey Evans and her husband David of Williamsburg, Va.; four grandchildren, Carey and Ben Evans, Owen and Cole Hutchison; and two nieces, Beverly and Betty Lou Chiffons of Claymont. Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014 at the Immanuel United Methodist Church, 209 W. Main Street, Townsend, Del. Immediately following the service the family will be receiving friends at the Fellowship Hall at the church. There will be no viewing. Interment will be help privately in Townsend Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Betty's memory to Immanuel Methodist Church, P.O. Box 60, Townsend, DE 19734.
