Elizabeth Hopkins

MILTON - Our dear mother and grandmother, Elizabeth 'Lib' Hopkins, passed away peacefully in her sleep at Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital on Friday, May 4, 2012. She was born in Milton, on September 27, 1923, to the late Everett Blizzard Calhoun and Bertha Mae Green. Upon graduation from Lewes High School, she worked briefly for Cornelius Marshall Insurance Company before marrying John in 1942. She worked beside John for many years as vice-president of Hopkins Granary in Milton until their retirement. She was a devoted member of Coolspring Presbyterian Church where she held many positions including active member of the Ladies Aide Society. In addition, she was a dedicated volunteer at the Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge and with the Milford Hospital Auxiliary, a long-time member of Coolspring Couples Club social group, Georgetown Eastern Star, and Broadkill Preservation Association. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, John A. Hopkins; her brother, James P. Calhoun; and her granddaughter, Jennifer H. Crabb. She is survived by her sister, Ruth C. Smith of Milton; daughter, Patricia H. Crabb and husband, Richard B. Crabb of Milford; son, John A. Hopkins, Jr. and wife, Laura J. Hopkins of Milton; grandchildren, John Hopkins III (Dawn), Donna Hopkins Gooner, of Milton, Tina Hilligoss (Michael), Liz Stiffler (Sim) of Milford, James Crabb of Wilmington, Colin Crabb (Mika Yoshino), Mary Crabb (Mark Dolan) of California, 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, as well as her special friend, Richard Marsh. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a loving wife, mother, Mom-Mom, More Mom-Mom, and wonderful friend. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Coolspring Presbyterian Church, 28843 Log Cabin Hill Rd, Lewes, DE 19958, with visitation after 10 a.m. A reception will immediately follow.
