Elisabeth 'Lib' Harvey Parker HURLOCK, Md. - Elisabeth "Lib" Harvey Parker, 91, of Hurlock, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Hurlock, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Benjamin and Mary Phillips Harvey. After graduating Goldy College, Lib met and married Brooks W. Parker, Sr. on Oct. 20, 1940. Her first job was setting up and running the Seaford office of E.I. DuPont. After leaving DuPont she worked side by side with her husband for many years at Parkers, Inc. and with her husband and son, Buddy, at Hurlock Hardware. She was an active member of Unity Washington United Methodist Church in Hurlock, and in the past volunteered at the Veterans Administration in Cambridge, and at North Dorchester High School where she was a past president of the PTA. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved spending time with family and friends and enjoyed traveling. Some of her fondest memories were made with her family and friends at the cottage at Green Point. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-laws, Brooks "Buddy" Parker, Jr. and Jan Parker, of Reids Grove, and John "Jack" Parker and Cindy Parker, of Apple Valley, Minn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Ray Bailey, of Mardela Springs; four grandchildren, Kevin Parker and his wife, Shannon, Jason Parker and his wife, Ana, Amanda Rusin and her husband, Grant, and Brittany Parker; three great-grandchildren, Brian Parker and his wife, Ulla, Mallory Parker, and Cody Parker; a sister, Shirlee "Shug" Collins of Preston; a brother-in-law, Dr. Arthur Parker and his wife Norma; two sisters-in-law, Ann Harvey and Madeline Parker; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Brooks W. Parker, Sr.; a brother, Charles "Bud" Harvey; and a sister, Elaine Bryan. The family would like to thank her caregivers, Pam Bartlett, Deborah Cannalito, Sharon McGrath, Jane and Nikki Thomas, and a close friend Virginia Wands, who she worked with for 41 years, for all the love and care they showed to Lib. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Unity Washington United Methodist Church on Main Street in Hurlock. Rev. Lloyd Foard will officiate assisted by Rev. James Bongard. Interment will follow in Unity Washington United Methodist Church Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
