Gordy, 88 DELMAR - Elijah Franklin Gordy of Delmar, died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his family. Born in Delmar, he was a son of the late Joshua Dawson Gordy and Edith Bowden Gordy. He farmed most of his life and was charter member of the Bi-State Ruritan Club. He is survived by daughters, Barbara Gordy Dennis of Salisbury, Charlotte Louise Hastings of Millsboro and Vickie Leigh Nelson of Crisfield; a son, Mark Franklin Gordy; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His wife of 65 years, Jeanette Windsor Gordy, died in September 2015. In addition to his wife and parents, he preceded in death by a grandson; and brothers, Havard, Oscar and Robert Gordy. A funeral service will be held today at 11 a.m. at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Interment will follow the services at Line Church Cemetery.
