Elder-Elect Bruce Eric Johnson

GOLDSBORO, Md. - Elder-Elect Bruce Eric Johnson began his journey of life on July 5, 1963 and transitioned to eternal rest on Friday, September 26, 2014. He was the son of Walter and Vivian Johnson of Goldsboro, Md. Bruce was educated in the Caroline County School system, graduating in 1981 from North Carolina High School. He later attended Chesapeake College in Wye Mills; the Computer Learning Center in Virginia; University of Baltimore and Wesley College in Dover, Del. and was currently pursuing his Master's Degree from Wilmington University in Dover, Del. Bruce traveled to Germany where he installed computer systems for the military. He was employed at Christiana Hospital as an IT Project Planner. Bruce began his Christian journey at Union U. M. Church, where he was active in Sunday School, the MYF and sang with the NLB Singers. He later became a member of Community Baptist Church in Barclay, Md. In 2003, Bruce as a charter member joined Jericho Faith Deliverance Church under the leadership of Rev. Phyllis Duckery. He served as the church administrator, praise and worship team, men's ministry, church intercessor and minister. Bruce was a serious student of the Word of God and a profound teacher. He was currently in training for eldership. He liked to play tennis and basketball in his younger days. He was a die-hard Chicago Bears fan, loved to watch the cooking shows and detective mysteries. He enjoyed teasing and joking with the younger children. Bruce was a praiser! Bruce was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Julia Johnson, William and Minnie Hutchins; one aunt and four uncles. Bruce leaves to cherish his memories his son, Trey Ruff (Katie) of Dover, Del.; grandson, Trey, II ("Joe"); brother, Randolph Johnson (Chong) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Kia McKinney of Goldsboro, Md.; two nieces; one nephew; two great-nieces; four great-nephews; a very, special friend, Tawnya of Smyrna, Del.; a step-son, Jarmall Williams of North Carolina; a special niece, Brenna McKinney whom he called "Lady Bug"; godsons, Jerren, Zion and Cayden Wilson; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many friends, including his Jericho Faith Deliverance church Family. Funeral services will be 12 p.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at New Life Wesleyan Church, 13699 Greensboro, Rd., Greensboro, Md. with a three hour viewing prior to service. Burial at Union Cemetery, Goldsboro, Md. Arrangements entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, Del.
