CAMBRIDGE - Edna Pauline Bloodsworth Beckwith passed into the presence of the Lord on Aug. 7, 2009. Born in East New Market on April 12, 1925, Pauline was 84 years old when she stepped into eternity. Her husband of 61 years, Leland, whom she loved dearly, survives her. Pauline was a wonderful mother of three children and grandmother of five. Her family and faith in God were very important to her. Leland, two of their children, Lynn Beckwith and Karen Beckwith Harper, as well as her granddaughter, Karen Tull, remained by her side caring for and loving her until her Savior called her home. A beloved grandson, Kerry Tull, enjoyed spending time with his grandmother and did so often. Pauline's eldest daughter is Cheryl Meekins, and her children are Chad, Brad, and Shana Dean. Pauline's passions included writing poetry and maintaining her home and yard, which she managed until her health began to fail. She was an active partner with her husband in their farming operation for a number of years. In addition, she and her husband owned an antique business which they enjoyed as a hobby as they traveled together collecting and refinishing pieces for it. Pauline was a lifetime member of Trinity United Methodist Church in East New Market where she served and taught Sunday School in earlier years. She also had fond memories of her time spent working as the leader of a local Girl Scout troop. Along with her immediate family, Pauline is survived by one sister, Patricia Rickwood, as well as several nieces and nephews. Seven siblings predeceased her. A graveside service will be conducted by her son-in-law, the Rev. James E. Harper, on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at East New Market Cemetery beginning at 11 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Salvation Army, P.O. Box 91, Cambridge, MD 21613. The Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market is handling the arrangements.
