
FELTON - TSgt. Edmond L. Barnes, Retired Air Force, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013 at Milford Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ed was born in Syracuse N.Y., Aug. 25, 1929. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 Years. His tour of duty took him to Korea, where he served in the Korean War. His final assignment was Dover at Dover Air Force Base where he retired from Military service. Following his retirement, he owned and operated Blue Hen Delivery service for 15 years and then worked for Glidden Paint, and Jen-Mor Florists. It was with pride, courage and compassion that he worked for Pippin Funeral Home transporting returning Military and their escorts. Ed's hobbies and activities included, member of the AMC Flight Museum (Dover AFB) as an Aircraft restoration crewmember and crew chief. He also was a member and active participant of the Historic Vintage Car Club in Milford, De, VFW post #8801, American Legion Post #2 and Delaware Veterans Association Post #2. Ed's family and friends were key to his life and he spent many happy moments with all. He will be missed! He is proceded in death by his mother; father; brother, Delbert Barnes; and sister, Ireane. Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Eleanor Barnes; his children, Jack Barnes and daughter-in-law, Kathy, Terry Barnes, Gregory Barnes and daughter-in-law, Kirsten; grandchildren, Zachary and Jessi Barnes, Gregory L. and Amber Barnes, Laura Selman and Shayne Mooney; two great-grandchildren, Colton Barnes and Madalynn Barnes; sister-in-law, Susan Barnes; niece, Patti Barnes; and his canine companion, Sandy. Service will be at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where visitation will be two hours earlier. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
