Edison (Bob) Bowens, 84

HURLOCK, Md. - Edison (Bob) Bowens, of Hurlock, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009, in Cambridge. He was 84. He was born on April 17, 1924, in Reid's Grove, Dorchester County, the son of the late Don P. Bowens and Patience Lilly Molock Bowens. On April 3, 1953, he married Emma Marie McGrath. He was a truck driver and grain lift operator for many years. He also was a farmer for most of his life. His love for the outdoors was evident as he was an avid hunter and gardener. He was a generous man who was always there for his family and enjoyed helping others. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Emma Marie Bowens of Hurlock; one son, Edison A. Bowens and his wife Cheryl of Easton; one daughter, Elva Marie Bowens of Hurlock; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eunice L. Bowens of Rhodesdale and Betty E. Bowens of Cambridge; and one brother, Brice E. Bowens of Knoxville, Tenn. He was preceded in death by seven siblings, Rosalee Hopkins, Iris V. Hopkins, Ida A. Bowens, Harold E. Bowens, Don (Lester) Bowens, and Roland P. Bowens. A funeral will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2009 at 1 p.m. at the Framptom Funeral Home, P.A. in Federalsburg with the Reverend Arthur George officiating. Friends may call the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Burial will follow in East New Market Cemetery.
