EAST NEW MARKET - E. Aileen Crandell, 86, passed away Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, at the Mallard Bay Center in Cambridge.

She was born in Madison, daughter of the late Clifton Winfield Burton and Lillie Rebecca Cox Burton.

She was a wife, mother and grandmother and her church and church family were a big part of her life. A significant part of her life was spent caring for children, with whom she had a special way. She cared for children in her home, in the church nursery and she was employed at Jack and Jill Day Care Center in Cambridge. She retired in 1987.

Mrs. Crandell was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cambridge since 1947.

She is survived by her husband of 67½ years, Ivan W. Crandell Sr. of East New Market; two sons, Ivan W. Crandell Jr. and his wife, Miyuki of Newport News, Va. and Gary L. Crandell and his wife, Sonia of Salisbury; four grandchildren, Minora "Mike" Crandell, Keiko Dailey, Jeffrey L. Crandell and J. Ryan Crandell; two great-grandchildren, Erika Dailey and Monica Dailey. She is also survived by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Sally Crandell, William and Martha Lee Crandell, Juanita and Gene Sawyer, Patricia and Mel Beitz, Robert and Jacki Crandell and Katie Crandell; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lizzie Travers and Lois Phillips; five brothers, Oden Burton, Lehman Burton, Dick Burton, Roland Burton and Jimmy Burton; a sister-in-law, Virginia Hubbard and a brother-in-law, Wesley Crandell.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Zeller Funeral Home in East New Market. The services will take place at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jerry Wade officiating. Burial will follow in the East New Market Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Cambridge, 501 Glenburn Ave., Cambridge, MD 21613.
