Dwight Lyman Warnick

GREENWOOD - Dwight Lyman Warnick, of Greenwood, died of natural causes on Friday, April 8, 2011, at his home. He was 102 years old. Dwight was born Feb. 13, 1909, near Grantsville, Md., the son of Charles and Maggie (Wisseman) Warnick. Dwight was a farmer all his life until retiring at age 85. He was a charter member of Tressler Mennonite Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for more than 60 years. He has been a friend to many over the years, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand. He is survived by his children, Mary K. Warnick of Greenwood and Don Warnick and wife Mary Ann of Lancaster, Pa.; grandchildren, Amy Troyer and husband Greg of Lancaster, Pa., and Derek Warnick and wife Renee of Philadelphia; four great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Eash Warnick; brothers, Archie and Walter Warnick; and sister, Leota Warnick. Viewing was held on Monday, April 11, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fleischauer Funeral Home in Greenwood. Burial Service was held at Greenwood Mennonite Church Cemetery on April 12, 2011. Memorial service was held April 12, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Tressler Mennonite Church. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Tressler Mennonite Church, POB N, Greenwood, DE 19950 or Perkin Educational Opportunities Foundation, 2354 Sue Ann Drive, Lancaster, PA 17602.
