SELBYVILLE - Jashaun Johnson, 20, of Selbyville was arrested on drug charges following a Tuesday afternoon traffic stop, Delaware State Police said.
Police said Mr. Johnson seen driving when he failed to signal while turning onto Poly Branch Road from Roxana Road at approximately 12:09 p.m. He was also seen using his cell phone and not wearing a seatbelt, police said.
A traffic stop ensued, and police said Mr. Johnson was seen throwing a belted bag away from him that he had been wearing. When troopers retrieved the bag, Mr. Johnson attempted to flee the area on foot. He was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit, police said.
A search conducted following the arrest resulted in the discovery of approximately 41.4 grams of cocaine, approximately 0.476 grams of heroin, drug paraphernalia, and over $900 in suspected drug proceeds, police said.
Mr. Johnson was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia (two counts), and several traffic offenses.
Mr. Johnson was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $9,700 unsecured bond.
