GREENWOOD - Ahjalik Davis, 24, of Bridgeville, was arrested on drug charges following a Wednesday afternoon crash, Delaware State Police said.
According to spokeswoman Sgt. India Sturgis, troopers responded to the area of Sharps Mill Road for a single-vehicle collision investigation at approximately 2:22 p.m. When troopers arrived at the scene, police said, drug paraphernalia and money were observed inside Mr. Davis' vehicle. Police determined he was under the influence of an unknown substance, Sgt. Sturgis said.
Mr. Davis was taken into custody without incident.
A subsequent search of the vehicle, police said, led to the discovery of approximately 2.79 grams of suspected cocaine, two packages of suspected Suboxone, approximately 2.457 grams of suspected heroin and over $1,600 of suspected drug proceeds. A computer check also revealed that Mr. Davis' license was suspended.
Mr. Davis refused medical treatment at the scene of the collision.
Mr. Davis was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as driving while suspended, driving under the influence of a drug, and inattentive driving. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $35,250 secured bond.
