DOVER - A 53-year-old Dover woman was facing charges after allegedly assaulting an 84-year-old man as the rode together in a vehicle Wednesday night, Delaware State Police said.

Kathy Ware was a passenger in the vehicle when she began assaulting the driver as they traveled on Bay Road at approximately 4:30 a.m. The man then stopped the vehicle in the median of Bay Road near Dover Air Force Base.

The man then exited the vehicle. Ms. Ware then entered the driver seat and stole the vehicle, according to police, fleeing towards an unknown destination.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.

Warrants were drafted for Ms. Ware’s arrest on first-degree robbery and second-degree assault charges, police said. She was located in Maryland by Salisbury on Wednesday and was taken into custody without incident. She was awaiting extradition back to Delaware, police said Thursday night.
