DOVER — A Dover teen was sentenced to 25 years in prison Wednesday in connection with a shooting death last year that brought a second-degree murder conviction, the Delaware Department of Justice said.
Harry Charles, 15 at the time of the incident in Dover, was also convicted of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and second-degree conspiracy. He was arrested after Mykal Dempster, 31, of Dover, was found shot to death in a vehicle on June 1, 2020.
For his connection to the incident, Raiquan Fisher received eight years in prison for possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree reckless endangering, and possession of a firearm by person prohibited. He was 19-years-old at the time of Mr. Dempster’s death.
According to prosecuting Deputy Attorney General Greg Babowal, “This case was a tragedy on many levels. First, it involves the violent murder of a 32-year-old man who was shot six times from behind while sitting in his car.
“Second, it involves the prosecution and conviction of a 16-year-old defendant (15 at the time of the murder) ...
“Hopefully, today’s outcome will provide closure and justice for the victim’s family. Also, hopefully, it will send a message that this type of violent criminal behavior will not be tolerated.”
