Dover teen charged in shooting of 17-year-old

DOVER — Dover Police announced Sunday morning the arrest of 17-year-old Michael Taylor for a Saturday shooting that left a 17-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

According to police, officers responded at about 3:34 p.m. Saturday to the area of East Water Street and New Castle Avenue for multiple shots fired calls. The 17-year-old victim was contacted by police taken to Bayhealth Kent General Hospital. He was in stable condition, according to Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman.

The investigation led to the development of Michael Taylor as a suspect in the shooting. Officers later contacted and arrested him without incident.

Mr. Taylor was charged with first-degree assault; possession of firearm by person prohibited; possession of deadly weapon during commission of felony; carry-concealed deadly weapon; criminal mischief and illegal gang participation.

Bond information was not available.
