DOVER — A 13-year-old Dover male was arrested on weapon and drug charges following a firearm investigation Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said officers were conducting a firearm investigation involving teen and attempted to contact him at 1:41 p.m. in the unit block of South New Street. Police said he fled before being taken into custody.
According to Cpl. Schmid, officers located a 9mm handgun, along with clothing items belonging to the teen in the path he ran from officers. The teen was also in possession of 1.2 grams of crack cocaine, police said.
The teen was charged with possession offenses including firearm by person prohbited, ammuition by a person prohibited and crack cocaine, along with illegal gang participation and resisting arrest. He was committed to Stevenson House on $26,000 cash bail.
