Posted

DOVER — A Wilmington resident has been indicted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man in Capitol Park earlier this year, according to Superior Court documents.

Marcus Bailey was 18 years old at the time of the alleged homicide March 24, according to Delaware State Police.

Police reported that Mr. Bailey entered the back seat of a vehicle, engaged in conversation with an occupant and then demanded property from him. Authorities added that the man was shot in the upper torso during the encounter and pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Mr. Bailey was identified as a suspect and taken into custody without incident in the parking lot of the Long Neck Wawa on March 26.

In addition to two counts each of first-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, Mr. Bailey was also charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Deputy attorney general Stephen Welch Jr. signed the indictment for the Department of Justice on Oct. 3.
