Dover residents charged with drug, firearms offenses

DOVER - Dover residents Elijah Simmons, 19, and Jailen Parker, 18, were arrested on drug and firearms charges Tuesday night, authorities said.

According to Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman, officers at approximately 6 p.m. were conducting surveillance in the 800 Block of East Loockerman Street for a drug and firearm investigation. They spotted Mr. Simmons exit a residence and conduct a drug transaction with Mr. Parker said. Mr. Parker was stopped in his vehicle in the area of N. DuPont Highway and Rustic Lane following the transaction, police said.

During the stop, police said, Mr. Parker was found to be in possession of 115.9 grams of marijuana and a handgun.

Officers then obtained a search warrant for the residence in the 800 Block of East Loockerman Street. During the search warrant, Mr. Simmons was taken into custody without incident, police said, and two handguns were located, along with 69 ounces of Promethazine, 584.3 grams of marijuana, ammunition.

Mr. Parker was charged with possession of a firearm by person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He was released on a $6,000 unsecured bond.

Mr. Simmons was charged with possession offenses including firearm by person prohibited, untraceable firearm, intent to deliver Promethazine, intent to deliver marijuana, and drug parapernalia. He was also wanted out of Philadelphia (PA) Police for Forgery/Fraudulent Checks. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $68,500 cash bond.
