Dover residents arrested after drug probe

DOVER - Dover residents George Shaheen, 39, and Kamiah Allen, 25, were arrested on drug charges following a search in the 100 block of Lexington Place on Monday morning, authorities said.

According to Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, detectives began an investigation into Mr. Shaheen in June for alleged drug sales.

On Monday, police said, detectives contacted Mr. Shaheen inside of a vehicle at which time he attempted to flee. He was taken into custody without further incident, police said.

Once Mr. Shaheen was in custody, police said, officers responded to his residence to execute a search warrant. When officers arrived, Ms. Allen was leaving the residence in possession of drugs, police said. She was taken into custody without incident.

Cpl. Schmid said officers located 208.6 grams of cocaine, 1,764.5 grams of marijuana and $12,833 of suspected drug proceeds when executing a search warrant.

Detectives also obtained a search warrant for a residence in the 700 block of Willow Wood Drive in Smyrna, police said, Officers then located a 9mm handgun which Mr. Shaheen is prohibited from possessing, police said.

Ms. Allen and Mr. Shaheen were each charged with possession counts including with intent to deliver cocaine in a Tier 3 quantity, cocaine in a Tier 3 quantity, intent to deliver marijuana in a Tier 2 quantity, marijuana in a Tier 2 quantity, second-degree conspiracy, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mr. Shaheen was additionally charged with possession of ammunition by person prohibited, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

Mr. Shaheen was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $162,200 cash bail.

Ms. Allen was released after posting $57,200 secured bond.
