Dover police: Woman flees domestic incident after firing gun

DOVER — A 21-year-old South Carolina woman allegedly fired a gun multiple times before fleeing from a domestic-related incident involving her father Wednesday, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

The incident on Fiddlers Green occurred around 9:53 a.m. Gunshots were heard as Gabrielle Clark of Columbia and her father were calling the Dover Police Department on separate phones, authorities said. There were no other people in the residence at the time.

Police said Ms. Clark fired multiple rounds during the altercation and that her father’s vehicle was struck by the gunfire. She fled the area in a rental car, a Nissan Versa with Texas registration MKR9410, Sgt. Hoffman said. She was believed to be in possession of the firearm at the time.

Ms. Clark was wearing a pink/orange shirt.

Warrants were being obtained, and Ms. Clark was wanted on three counts of first-degree reckless endangering and other related offenses, police added.

While there was no threat to nearby W. Reily Brown Elementary School during the aftermath, officers notified the school and went to the scene as a precaution.

The investigation was ongoing, and police asked anyone with information to call 736-7111. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or here; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.

The incident was the latest in a string of shootings in the city area. Police have reported at least 23 since June 3, leaving three people dead and another 18 injured. Seven incidents have occurred in August, five in July and 11 in June.
