DOVER - Aliah Stone, 19, and Cam’ron Jackson, 18, both of Dover, were following a shoplifting complaint which lead to the recovery of ammunition and a stolen vehicle, Thursday evening, authorities said.
Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said investigation began a call was received for a shoplifting that had just occurred a LIDL. Officers responded and staff advised officers that the suspects, a Hispanic female and a Black male, fled in a gray Jeep SUV with Pennsylvania registration, police said.
Officers familiar with Ms. Stone believed that she may be involved based on the description provided by staff at LIDL, police said. Officers know Ms. Stone to frequent the unit block of Stevenson Drive so they went to check the area, police said.
Upon arrival, officers located the grey Jeep described above which was occupied by Ms. Stone and Mr. Jackson, police said. Both were taken into custody without incident and officers located 9mm ammunition in the center console following a search, police said.
Police said the vehicle had been reported stolen on Feb. 11 and alleged that Mr. Jackson had taken it.
Ms. Stone was committed to Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $9,000 cash bail on charges of possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, and receiving stolen property. She was also held on $1,000 secured bail for counts of shoplifting under $1,500 and third-degree conspiracy.
Mr. Jackson was charged with possession of ammunition by a person prohibited and received a $8,000 cash bail. He was held given a $2,000 secured bail on a theft of a motor vehicle charge. Mr. Jackson was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution.
Mr. Jackson was additionally charged with shoplifting and conspiracy and was issued an unsecured bail for those charges.
