DOVER — The Marine Corps League presented retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Bill Farley with the Legion of Honor Humanitarian Award from the Chapel of the Four Chaplains.
The presentation was made Sept. 29 at the Delaware Commission of Veterans Affairs, Dover. Maj. Farley was recognized for his many activities on behalf of his fellow veterans from all branches and generations.
A Veterans Affairs commissioner for many years, Maj. Farley, who served in Vietnam, has been an active participant in programs for homeless veterans, suicide prevention efforts at the local and state level, and in multiple community activities in conjunction with the city of Dover. In 2017, Delaware’s programs to address veteran homelessness were honored at the White House.
“I accept this award on behalf of the many men and women throughout Delaware who have done so much to help veterans and their families in crisis and to make Delaware a national leader in housing homeless veterans,” he said.
