MAGNOLIA — A 21-year-old Dover man has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with a shooting incident that occurred early Thursday, Delaware State Police spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said.

According to authorities, at approximately 12:05 a.m., troopers responded to the 200 block of Jeffrey Drive, in the London Village Community, for a man with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso.

Investigation determined that Christopher Evans, 19, of Dover, was sitting inside a vehicle arguing with a female acquaintance through the car window when the argument escalated to a physical altercation.

When Michael Kressman, 30, of Magnolia, came to the aid of the female, he was shot by Keyonte Brown, 21, of Dover, who was also in the vehicle, police said. Mr. Kressman was transported to an area hospital by EMS, where he was pronounced deceased.

Along with the murder count, Mr. Brown was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $1,085,000 cash bond.

Mr. Evans was charged with aggravated menacing, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was arraigned in JP Court 7 and committed to the Department of Correction on a $24,000 secured bond.
