DOVER — A 35-year-old Dover man was arrested Wednesday after being found in possession of drugs and weapons.
Delaware State Police said that, at approximately 10 a.m., a trooper saw a bicyclist merge onto North DuPont Highway north from White Oak Road without using a hand signal. The trooper stopped the man, identified as Andrew Sheppard, and discovered that he had brass knuckles and several knives.
A semi-automatic handgun, crystal meth and a meth pipe were also found in his backpack, authorities said.
Mr. Sheppard was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm while possessing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed deadly weapon and failure to give a hand and arm signal. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $15,101 secured bond.
