DOVER - Dwayne Tate, 27, of Dover, was charged with attempted burglary following an incident at a residence Monday night, authorities said.
According to Dover Police spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, a woman called police at approximately 8:50 p.m. reporting an attempted break-in at her home.
Officers arrived on scene and saw a suspect, later identified as Mr. Tate, wearing a mask on the front porch of a residence, police said. The suspect ran away as officers attempted an apprehension.
Mr. Tate was taken into custody after an officer used their Taser, police said. He was found in possession of nine grams of marijuana, Cpl. Schmid said.
Mr. Tate was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and charged with first-degree attempted burglary, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and possession of marijuana. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $12,500 secured bail.
