DOVER - Keon Cornish, 28, of Dover, was arrested following an armed robbery on Monday morning at the First State Inn, Dover police said.
According to spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, a person later identified as Mr. Cornish allegedly entered a room at the inn at 1760 N. Dupont Highway armed with a rifle and demanded money from persons inside.
Police said an undisclosed amount of money was taken from the persons inside and Mr. Cornish fled from the hotel.
Officers were called to the room at approximately 3:46 a.m. and an investigation ensued, according to authorities.
On Tuesday, police said, Mr. Cornish was found to be staying in a room at the Kent Budget Inn. He was taken into custody by the department’s Special Operations Response Team without incident at approximately 7:07 p.m.
Mr. Cornish was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 2. He was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, first-degree burglary (home invasion), possession of firearm by person prohibited, and aggravated menacing. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $138,000 cash bail.
