DOVER — A 49-year-old Dover man was arrested after a robbery in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven on North DuPont Highway on Monday, authorities said.
According to Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman, officers responded to the store at approximately 4:56 a.m. and contacted a 58-year-old woman from Brooklyn, New York. The woman told officers that a suspect had brandished a silver handgun and demanded that she throw her cellphone under a nearby car, police said. The suspect then demanded cash from the woman, and she complied, police said. The suspect fled on a bicycle in a southbound direction.
After receiving the description of the suspect, officers checked the area and located Timothy Jarvis on North DuPont Highway, south of Townsend Boulevard, Sgt. Hoffman said. He was taken into custody without incident.
Mr. Jarvis was charged with first-degree robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited and carrying a concealed deadly weapon. He was taken into custody without incident and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $65,000 cash bond.
