DOVER — A 26-year-old Dover man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a shooting in front of a Dover nightspot last month.

Dover police say Robert Knox was taken into custody without incident after leaving an apartment on Plummage Court. An investigation determined that he is the suspected shooter in an April 16 shooting in front of Irish Mike’s Old Towne Pub that left a man wounded in both legs, police said. No update on the man’s condition was available Wednesday.

The arrest was the second connected to the shooting that police said occurred at 12:53 a.m. Jon Henry, 25, of Dover, was taken into custody May 3 after investigators determined that he allegedly possessed a handgun during the incident, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Mr. Henry was charged with felony firearm and drug offenses and then held at Sussex Correctional Institution on a $116,200 cash bail.

Police did not have information on any possible connection between Mr. Knox and Mr. Henry.

Dover police and United States Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force members apprehended Mr. Knox at approximately 12:20 p.m., Sgt. Hoffman said.

At the time of arrest, police said, Mr. Knox was found with 18.6 grams of marijuana and a large amount of cash.

A search warrant was obtained to enter the apartment where Mr. Knox and Shaniqua Smith, 29, Dover, were found. According to police, 6,106.7 grams of marijuana (13.5 pounds), a 9mm handgun, a .380 caliber handgun, and $54,931 in suspected drug proceeds were located.

Mr. Knox was charged with first-degree assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (two counts).

Additionally, Mr. Knox was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana, and possession of firearm by person prohibited (four counts), and drug paraphernalia.

Ms. Smith was charged with possession counts including intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and firearm by person prohibited (two counts), and drug paraphernalia. She was released on $30,500 unsecured bond.

Police said anyone with information on the case should call 302-736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous. Tips may also be submitted to law enforcement through Delaware Crime Stoppers at 800-TIP-3333 or online; a cash reward is possible for information leading to an arrest.

The shooting was the first of 10 incidents that occurred in a 27-day span within the city that left five persons wounded, according to police reports. A 17-year-old male was arrested in connection with a shooting on April 27.
