DOVER — A 25-year-old Dover man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses following a hit-and-run incident early Friday, authorities said.
According to Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman, Brian Krolick ran from the scene after his vehicle struck the rear of another vehicle occupied by two people. Officers were called to the scene in the 200 block of North Governors Avenue at approximately 12:10 a.m., he said.
As Mr. Krolick fled, Sgt. Hoffman said, a witness continued to provide location updates over the phone. Officers saw Mr. Krolick running into an alley near Lakewood Place and Columbia Avenue, and he was arrested without incident, police said.
A search of Mr. Krolick’s vehicle led to the discovery of three bags containing approximately 1,454 grams of marijuana, police said.
Mr. Krolick appeared to be intoxicated, police said, and he was transported to Bayhealth Hospital, Kent Campus for a blood draw. Mr. Krolick kicked two Dover police officers as hospital staff were attempting to draw blood, authorities said.
The driver of the other vehicle was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries that included a broken right leg and a brain injury, police said. The passenger was treated for a mouth injury.
Mr. Krolick was charged with first- and third-degree vehicular assault, DUI, possession with intent to deliver marijuana, offensive touching of a law enforcement officer (two counts), resisting arrest, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on a $46,500 secured bond.
