Dover juvenile charged with firearm offense

DOVER - A 16-year-old Dover male was charged with a firearm offense following an administrative search Tuesday night, authorities said.

According to Dover police spokesperson Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid, officers at approximately 5:35 p.m. conducted a search of a juvenile probationer’s residence in the 400 block of Barrister Place. Delaware Juvenile Probation and Parole assisted in the search, police said.

As a result of the administrative search, a blue and black Polymer80 9mm handgun and 9mm ammunition were located, Cpl. Schmid said. The juvenile was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Dover Police Department.

The juvenile was charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and possession of ammunition by a person prohibited. He was committed to Stevenson House Detention Center on $7,500 cash bail.
